CEREC tooth restorations combine aesthetics with convenience. With a CEREC crown, Dr. Vargas uses an extra-strength ceramic material called lithium disilicate to restore your tooth’s function and appearance. This material closely mimics your teeth’s natural color and composition, making it blend easily with the rest of your smile.
Dr. Vargas uses the advanced technology of a CEREC machine for certain situations and laboratory-created crowns for others. Using the CEREC machine’s CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Vargas can design, match, and place a custom-made, sturdy ceramic restoration in just one visit to her Dallas office.
Your CEREC Crown
During your visit to get your CEREC crown, Dr. Vargas will first prepare your tooth by removing any decay or damaged parts of the tooth and then shaving a millimeter or two from the circumference of the tooth to make room for the crown. Then, a state-of-the-art 3D digital camera is used for a digital impression. With this optical impression, there is no need for the traditional physical impressions using paste or molds.
Dr. Vargas will guide the CEREC machine, using its high-tech CAD software, to make sure every part of your restoration is properly shaped, fits your bite, and will be so comfortable that you won’t even know it is there. While you enjoy a movie or our spa-like amenities, a custom crown is being milled by the CEREC machine. The crown-making process that once took multiple visits can now be finished in about fifteen to twenty minutes. Once the crown is ready, Dr. Vargas will try in on, make sure it fits correctly and that you are satisfied with it. Once that is done, your crown will be polished, and bonded into place.
